That’s a little quotation of inspirational words from Pimpi Syarley Naomi owner and founder of Sawo Kecik. The more intimate woman called Pimpi is one of those who cares deeply about the surrounding environment. Processing milk box waste into a unique and interesting work is a path that it chooses to take part in preserving the environment. In our eyes, the box of used milk may not be meaningful and valuable, but in the eyes of a Pimpi, the container of used milk can be transformed by the hands of the creative into various high-value handicraft products such as pouch, wallet, notebook, place Stationery and many other crafts.

Beginning of Sawo Kecik

Graduates of the art Faculty of the Jakarta Arts Institute are already fond of things that smelled art since they were young. After graduating from college, Pimpi briefly worked in one of the production houses. But his determination to be an entrepreneur and his hobby hobbies stopped him from working in the year 2010. He decided to focus on the handicraft business that he had established since 2009 through a unique brand named Sawo Kecik. Since then, Pimpi began to be a concerned with the environment and began to focus on processing waste milk boxes.

Started from him worried and restlessly with people who like to throw garbage. They don’t care about trash around them. Well Pimpi want to solve that problem with what he can. Because Pimpi likes to make handicrafts, then he tries to make handicrafts from milk box waste. That way Pimpi wants to invite and realize people that the waste can be something. The waste can be an income and waste that we used to dispose of it can be beneficial again.

The idea of utilizing a milk box

He had been thinking about what can be processed that was not processed by others. Bottles are already numerous, plastic crackle is also there. Incidentally because at the house of Pimpi there was a milk box at that time, he finally tried to cultivate the milk box. Surely not only he is consuming milk, there are still many but not many who process it. Well from there then Pimpi tried to tinker with 5 boxes of milk that became something. Once so, it turns out that many love his work. From there, Pimpi began to focus on picking his robes and processing them constantly.

What is the name of Sawo Kecik

The name is prayer. Everyone who is born and given a name by parents must be a prayer. Pimpi also wants the name of the brand that it makes is a good name because it will be a prayer. The time of Pimpi the streets to Solo city in the yard of Keraton Solo are planted with tall tree trees. He was curious about the tree. Why in Keraton Jogja also there and in Keraton Solo also there. He knew that the name of the tree he saw was the little Sawo Kecik.

Why is the Sawo Kecik tree planted in Keraton Jogja and Solo. According to Javanese philosophy, they believe that this little sawo tree is a tree that bears good fruit. So he has many benefits as a protective tree as well as his trees, leaves, and fruit is beneficial. Sometimes the name Sawo Kecik likes to be diplesetin so sarwo Becik which means good all. Pimpi took that name initially before the Kecik brand is known to the general public.

Getting a used milk box

Pimpi got a used milk box by getting around looking for a café around Jakarta. He asked for permission to the café manager who was approached to collect the used milk boxes in the cafe and would be taken every 2 days. The longer after the name Sawo Kecik is increasingly known to many people, Pimpi even got a lot of waste shipment of his milk box to the pimpi voluntarily. From there it was the beginning of the creation of dream works that characterize vintage and Floral style.

Dyeing technique?

Pimpi has a special technique in making products. This technique is called the katazome technique. This technique from Japan was discovered by Pimpi accidentally from a magazine he had ever read. According to him, this dyeing technique is more environmentally friendly. He does not meet many chemicals, do not need a lot of hot water, do not need much electricity, and so on. It was the main concern of Pimpi to apply the katazome technique.

It was about 2 years that Pimpi learned this technique. Pimpi was happy that he finally found a technique he likes and he did until now.

Before being made into crafts, the tissue box is cleaned and dried. Then the tissue box is cut to one carton sheet. The pattern is then made according to the product that will be made. The works from the hand of Pimpi can be made by order by online, such as through an Instagram official account.
